Would you like to improve comfort while keeping your existing sash and case windows? Gecko secondary glazing adds a removable internal panel to suitable timber windows, leaving the original glass in place.
The Sash & Case Window Company is assessing demand for Gecko glazing. Future supply, measuring and fitting arrangements, prices and lead times are subject to confirmation.
What is Gecko glazing?
Gecko Panes are made-to-measure clear plastic panels that fit inside existing window frames. They trap an insulating air layer beside the original glazing and can be removed when access is needed. They are secondary glazing panels, rather than replacement glass units.
Why consider removable secondary glazing?
The system may appeal to homeowners who want to retain their existing glass and explore a removable upgrade. Before choosing, consider your priorities: insulation, appearance, cleaning access, window operation and working shutters. Check the proposed panel arrangement against your actual windows.
Are your windows suitable?
Accurate measurement and sound existing windows are important. An assessment should consider:
- Dimensions and shape of each opening.
- Condition of the timber, paint and putty.
- Existing dampness or moisture around the glazing.
- How the sashes open and close.
- Clearance for shutters, handles and other fittings.
Gecko panels do not repair leaky or poorly fitting frames. See our sash window draught proofing and glass and putty repairs services. Damp Georgian windows and defective external seals need particular attention before panels are fitted.
Gecko or FINEO vacuum glazing?
Gecko adds a removable panel inside the existing window. FINEO vacuum glazing replaces existing glass with a sealed vacuum unit. Your choice should reflect the condition of the windows, whether you want to retain original glass, your budget and the work involved.
